Asia HY Trade Recommendations - August 2019 - Lucror Analytics

Medco Energi's H1/19 results were satisfactory. Earnings continued to grow on higher O&G production volumes. While the company reported a lower average realised oil price, we note that the average realised gas price is higher y-o-y, as the bulk of its gas contracts are based on fixed prices or indexed prices with annual escalations. The weaker leverage was in line with expectations, as the additional debt was mainly used to fund the Ophir acquisition. We project that full-year Debt/EBITDA will improve to c. 5x (LTM June 2019: 5.6x). We also expect FCF to remain negative over the near term, on account of the high capex. That said, cash flow will be supplemented by the company’s non-core asset disposals. Medco may also embark on further acquisitions, considering its relatively short 2P reserve life of nine years. Although the company has ample 2C reserves, these are unproven and will require exploration capex.
