<li>Employment growth remained brisk into furlough’s end, driving the UR to 4.3%. Payroll data suggest things didn’t collapse in October, but business surveys suggest about 0.45% of jobs were cut. </li>
<li>Headline pay growth continued to crash, and the monthly impulse disappointed again, causing the ONS to hack its view of underlying growth towards our gloomy one.</li>
<li>The gap between jobs and wage growth curbs inflationary pressure and the hawkish urgency. </li>

Employment growth remained brisk into furlough’s end, driving the UR to 4.3%. Payroll data suggest things didn’t collapse in October, but business surveys suggest about 0.45% of jobs were cut.

<li>Reference to data in the “coming months” implies the first hike will occur in Feb-22. Resilient labour market data are motivating an earlier start than we previously thought, but the path remains highly likely to be much flatter than priced.</li>

<li>Calls for higher wages are reinforced by a 6.6% rise in the increasingly pervasive minimum. Without productivity gains, it is almost like the government wants the BoE to painfully stomp out excessive exuberance soon, although we still see that risk avoided.</li>
