Hang Seng China Enterprises Index / Event-Driven

<ul>
<li>The HSCEI 2022 dividend futures are trading around our fair value. Larger than expected special dividends from oil and telecom companies could provide some upside.</li>
<li>The HSCEI 2022/23 div steepener has dropped from -5 to -15 since our last Insight. We see further downside here and would look to add to shorts in the spread.</li>
<li>With rising interest rates, higher inflation, higher oil prices, a slowdown could lead to a rapid repricing of dividends and there will be opportunities to buy back the spread lower.</li>

<li>An ad hoc rebalance was announced for the KOSDAQ150 following Osstem being designated an 'Administrative Issue'. In IPO world, we have LIC in India and SBI Sumishin NetBank coming up.</li>
<li>Friday was the review cutoff date for the March rebalance of the ASX200 Index. The ATO has provided Aventus with the tax ruling and that creates a timing issue.</li>

<li>Using prices from the close on 18 February to cap the stocks, estimated one-way turnover at the rebalance is 4.37% and will result in a one-way trade of HK$3,350m.</li>
<li>Short interest on <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/xinyi-solar-holdings-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:318:1" rel="noopener">Xinyi Solar Holdings (968 HK)</a> is 13 days of ADV to cover. While the inclusion was expected, short covering could take the stock higher.</li>

As expected, Xinyi Solar Holdings (968 HK) replaces Evergrande Property Services (6666 HK) in the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI INDEX) at the close of trading on 4 March.
Using prices from the close on 18 February to cap the stocks, estimated one-way turnover at the rebalance is 4.37% and will result in a one-way trade of HK$3,350m.
Short interest on Xinyi Solar Holdings (968 HK) is 13 days of ADV to cover. While the inclusion was expected, short covering could take the stock higher.


HSCEI Index Rebalance: Another Evergrande Stock Is Deleted; Xinyi Solar IN

<ul>
<li>The review period for the March review of the HSCI ended on 31 December. There are a lot of new listings that should be included in the index.</li>
<li>SenseTime is a high probability inclusion to the index, though it will only be added to Stock Connect in July once it completes 6 months and 20 trading days.</li>
<li>Xpeng and Li Auto will be added to Stock Connect in Feb/March if they pass the velocity test. We see Li Auto as failing the test, while Xpeng is close.</li>
</ul>


The review period for the March review of the HSCI ended on 31 December. There are a lot of new listings that should be included in the index.
SenseTime is a high probability inclusion to the index, though it will only be added to Stock Connect in July once it completes 6 months and 20 trading days.
Xpeng and Li Auto will be added to Stock Connect in Feb/March if they pass the velocity test. We see Li Auto as failing the test, while Xpeng is close.

Changes in the free-float adjustment factors could result in no change to the index, while there is an outside chance of Bilibili (9626 HK) being included in the index.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index is a free-float capitalization-weighted index comprised of H-Shares listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and included in the Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index. The base value of this index is 2000 as of Jan 3, 2000. This index replaced the old HSCE index on Oct. 3, 2001.
