Indika Energy's Q1/19 results were weak, as key business segment? Kideco was affected by both lower selling prices and higher cash costs. The numbers also highlighted the fact that Indika is now largely a coal miner, with its other businesses being too small (vs. Kideco) to provide meaningful diversification. The financial risk profile has deteriorated significantly. However, the company still generated FCF and liquidity is sound. For the rest of FY 2019, we continue to expect a weaker performance amid the challenging coal market. Revenue will largely be driven by coal prices, while Kideco’s volumes may register high single-digit growth. We foresee that profitability will be significantly reduced y-o-y. We expect debt to be stable, given that the USD Notes account for most (85-90%) of Indika's debt. We remain curious as to how the company will make use of its large cash balance, and are even more curious about the drawdown of more loans in Q1. Key credit drivers remain: [1] Chinese policy and other regulatory risks; and [2] acquisition risk, as the cash balance may be applied for further acquisitions.
