So, consider this an addendum of sorts to that first Insight.Whereas "Engine Versus Exxon" was a mostly qualitative discussion of recent events for Exxon and six other supermajors, this is a more data-driven look of a much larger universe of oil stocks; 50 in total, representing 24 countries (mainly in the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe).Together, they are a good proxy for the broader Energy sector – an aggregate market capitalisation of US$4.6 trillion, and responsible for an astounding 20.5 billion MtCO2e in emissions, about 65% of all energy-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.This is a relatively focused Insight, covering four related areas:<ol>

Climate Policies: Where each stands vis-à-vis implementation of climate-related policies.</li>

As we outline in today's report, being “overbought” is far from a sell signal.  We also highlight attractive Groups and stocks within Energy and Materials: Large-, Mid-, and Small-Cap Domestic Oil &amp; Gas E&amp;P , Chemicals, Diversified, and Specialty Chemicals, Petro/Basic/Commodity.

The last three years have been characterized by significant M&amp;A activity in the upstream oil and gas industry. As the oil cycle recovered from the price bottom in January 2016, lower asset prices and corporate valuations created opportunities for the companies with a stronger balance sheet to grow inorganically while their weaker competitors were forced to downsize their portfolios. 2018, in particular, has seen a surge of corporate M&amp;A which has been driving consolidation in the industry. Upstream Oil & Gas M&A Review: Surge of Takeovers and Mergers in 2018 – What to Expect in 2019
