<ul><li>India assumed the chair of ANRPC at the end of the 13th annual meet held at Guwahati, India, from October 9 to 13, 2023.</li><li>Executive Director of the Indian Rubber Board, M Vasanthagesan, also took charge as the new ANRPC Chairman.</li><li>Vinod Nedumudy caught up with Mr. Vasanthagesan on behalf of Helixtap to know his priorities as he takes charge of the all-important NR global body.</li></ul>

<ul><li>   Short-term demand from China is likely to remain slow as rising international prices and higher inventory has drifted the Chinese buyers only towards opportunistic buying.    Even though there is some gradual return of the buying interest, the high level of inventory and poor purchasing power are dampening the confidence.</li><li>Towards the end of the month, there was some drop in the inventory level, which could indicate some revival in demand.</li><li>   However, it has yet to translate into the international market.</li></ul>

Price Decline Forces Cambodia On The Backfoot Until August

<ul><li>   Moving Averages   As of 27 October 2023     Over October 2023, the respective longer-term 50 day moving averages (50MA) have trended above the 200 day moving averages (200MA) for physical rubber grades and rubber futures.</li><li>From the Price Signals tool, these signals were observed for SIR20, STR20, AFR10 (CIF Rotterdam/Hamburg) and the SICOM TSR20 P1 futures.    This confirms that for these grades, average prices over the past 50 days were higher than over the past 200 days.</li><li>This signals a bullish price trend could continue for the longer-term over the following few months.    Differentials   As of 26 October 2023     In contrast to the previous update, Thai differential premiums for STR20 over SICOM TSR20 have narrowed closer to parity.</li></ul>
