The purpose of Contrarian Cashflows is to document my investment research and share it with everyone who is interested in value investing. My long term aspiration for Contrarian Cashflows is to become a platform for professional investors and serious amateurs where they can get inspiration and discuss investing-related topics.
I plan to publish one company deep dive per month that is guided by my investment approach. All information I use for my write-ups is publicly available and most of the time directly sourced from public filings issued by the respective companies. To guarantee maximum transparency, for every post I provide a list of all used sources in the resources section.

SIGA Technologies reported revenues of $10m in Q324, attributed primarily to deliveries under the $112.5m BARDA option, exercised in July 2024. Backed by a strong order book ($146m at end-Q324), the sales momentum has picked up pace in Q424 with another $51.2m and $8.5m of oral and IV TPOXX (IVT) delivered to the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) in October 2024. We expect further deliveries in Q424 and early 2025 under the BARDA contract as well as the $9m US Department of Defense (DoD) order received in August 2024. Q424 also marked SIGA’s first commercial foray into Africa (delivering oral TPOXX to Morocco worth c $0.8m), capped by in-licensing of a novel preclinical monoclonal antibody from Vanderbilt University to complement TPOXX in targeting orthopox viruses. We await further updates on the PEP label expansion and mpox trials but conservatively adjust our estimates to reflect results from the PALM 007 study. Our valuation adjusts to $13.93/share from $15.89/share previously.

SIGA Technologies announced another contract win with the US Department of Defense (DoD), which is for the procurement of c $9m in TPOXX. This is the third DoD contract win in roughly three years for a total of approximately $28m and adds to the already robust H224 orderbook of c $154m of outstanding TPOXX orders, following the July 2024 $112.5m option exercise from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) for oral TPOXX. While delivery timeline details are yet to be disclosed, we expect this new DoD order to at least start being partially serviced in FY25. The DoD has also provided $27m in R&D support to the post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) development effort, for which the regulatory filing is planned within the next 12 months.

Although the topline results of PALM 007 (studying SIGA’s tecovirimat in the treatment of mpox) did not meet the statistical significance for the full population (primary endpoint), we are encouraged by the clinically meaningful benefit reported over placebo in early-treated patients and in those with severe disease. The data highlight an opportunity to establish an effective regime for these key populations, given the lack of effective treatment options and the overall importance of early treatment in infectious diseases. PALM 007 was not a registrational study, and SIGA’s priorities in mpox are the four remaining ongoing studies targeting this indication, which may potentially support a mpox label in the US. Currently, tecovirimat is approved for mpox treatment in the EU and UK.
