What types of services are available through Premium Services?

The Premium Services offering creates additional opportunities for engagement between Clients and Insight Providers over and above standard platform access. Some examples of available Premium Services include calls, face-to-face meetings, bespoke research projects, company visits and financial modelling. The Premium Services offered and provided by Insight Providers do not constitute targeted legal, financial or investment advice.

Are Premium Services included in my standard subscription?

No,​ ​a separate Premium​ ​Services​ subscription ​must​ ​be​ ​purchased​ ​on​ ​top​ ​of​ your​ ​standard​ ​Smartkarma​ ​subscription.​ ​Premium Services​ ​subscriptions​ ​are​ ​exclusively​ ​available​ ​to​ ​Smartkarma​ ​subscribers.

How are Premium Services charged to clients?

Insight Providers set their Interaction Rates in USD which Smartkarma then converts into a SMART equivalent. Clients can purchase between three tiers of SMART Subscriptions: Lite, Basic and Pro. Each subscription package provides you with different amounts of SMARTs, and in turn different amounts of interactions with Insight Providers. How is the value of a SMART (credit) determined?

The cost of a SMART depends on the subscription package chosen, with each tier of package bestowing increasing value. Insight providers set their own Interaction rates, and Smartkarma converts these rates into SMART equivalents, and consolidates them to create simple and transparently priced analyst tiers.

How can I get set up to use Premium Services?

Prior to using Premium Services, your firm must purchase a Premium Service Subscription, receive internal compliance approval, and agree to our Premium Services terms. You can initiate this process by selecting the Premium Services button on the platform, in an Insight, or within an Insight Provider’s profile. This will prompt an email message with further instructions on how to provision Premium Services.

What paperwork is required?

Existing Smartkarma clients must complete and sign the Premium Services Order Form at the company level, prior to receiving access to Premium Services. This Order Form contains the specific Premium Services terms, conditions and restrictions, which shall apply to your usage of Premium Services.
Premium Services credits (“SMARTs”) may be used by the Client’s Authorised Users who have been allocated a Log-in under the Client’s standard Smartkarma subscription.

Are there eligibility criteria to access Premium Services?

To access Premium Services, Client/Client Authorised Users must have:

  • an active standard Smartkarma Subscription
  • purchased a Premium Services Subscription
  • received internal compliance permission to access the Smartkarma Premium Service offering
  • no employment, third party or regulatory restraints

How do I purchase Premium Services SMARTs?

Your firm acquires SMARTs by purchasing an annual Premium Services subscription, and is according to three different pricing tiers (Lite, Basic, Pro), as an add-on to its standard Smartkarma subscription.

How do I request a Premium Service once I’ve been onboarded?

Once​ ​Premium​ ​Services​ ​has​ ​been​ ​enabled​ ​for​ ​your​ ​firm​ ​and​ ​SMARTs​ ​have​ ​been​ ​purchased,​ ​you​ ​can​ ​request Premium​ ​Services​ ​by​ ​selecting​ ​the​ ​Premium​ ​Services​ ​button​ ​in​ ​an​ ​Insight​ ​or​ ​within​ ​an​ ​Insight​ ​Provider’s​ ​profile. You​ ​can​ ​then​ ​indicate​ ​the​ ​specific​ ​service​ ​you​ ​are​ ​looking​ ​for.​ ​The​ ​Premium​ ​Services​ ​team​ ​will​ ​get​ ​back​ ​to​ ​you with​ ​a​ ​response​ ​within​ ​12​ ​hours.

Which Insight Providers are on Premium Services?

An ​Insight​ ​Provider’s​ ​participation​ ​​in​ ​Premium​ ​Services, as well as their Interaction Rate and offerings,​ ​are​ ​fully​ ​at​ ​their​ ​discretion.​ ​Insight Providers​ ​who​ ​are​ ​participating​ ​in​ ​Premium​ ​Services​ ​will​ ​have​ ​a​ ​blue​ ​“Premium​ ​Services”​ ​icon​ ​on​ ​their​ ​profile.

Who can I speak to about the Premium Services I receive?

How can I see my Premium Services account activity or monitor usage?

How does Premium Services fit into my compliance protocols?

How do you safeguard against MNPI when using Premium Services?

Smartkarma​ ​maintains​ ​a​ ​multi-faceted​ ​approach​ ​to​ ​address​ ​the​ ​important​ ​issue​ ​of​ ​MNPI,​ ​including​ ​Insight​ ​Providers​ ​agreeing​ ​to​ ​abide​ ​by​ ​specific​ ​content​ ​restrictions​ ​and​ ​warranties surrounding​ ​MNPI.

How does this fit into MiFID II?

Providing​ ​clients​ ​with​ ​a​ ​transparent​ ​channel​ ​to​ ​engage​ ​with​ ​a​ ​large​ ​number​ ​of​ ​providers​ ​and​ ​access​ ​only​ ​those services​ ​needed,​ ​transparently​ ​and​ ​efficiently,​ ​without​ ​any​ ​possibility​ ​of​ ​inducement,​ ​is​ ​something​ ​unique​ ​to​ ​the Smartkarma​ ​platform.​ ​In this way, Smartkarma​​ ​meets​ the requirements of ​MiFID​ ​II​ ​regulation.​ ​Prior​ ​to​ ​any​ Client provisioning​ ​Premium​ ​Services,​ ​applicable​ ​agreement​ ​and​ ​compliance​ ​approvals​ ​must​ also first ​be​ ​met.

Do SMARTs expire?

SMARTs are valid for one year, from the commencement of your subscription, but may be rolled out incrementally over the course of the annual subscription according to your firm’s nominated billing period (see above). Any unused SMARTs at the end of the annual subscription period expire and do not roll over.

What happens if we use all our credits before the end of the subscription period?

With Smartkarma’s written approval, you may accrue negative credit, for which you will be billed at the end of the annual subscription period as a one-off payment, calculated on the terms of your selected package.
