JSW Steel’s Q3/19-20 performance, though poor, was in line with expectations, with the weakness driven by a large drop in selling prices and therefore profitability. The financial risk profile has deteriorated significantly, and tripped the rating agencies’ negative triggers. We expect it will worsen even further. Liquidity is weak. We expect negative pressure on JSW’s ratings from both Moody’s and Fitch in the next 12 months.
