Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, the US districts with highest levels of Chinese FDI (dark blue in the map) pop up all over the US, including many parts of the rural Midwest and the South.</p><figure class="editor-figure mceNonEditable"><img src="https://static-prod.smartkarma.com/images/media/000/019/349/original/Rhodium_FDI.png?1484708668" class="editor-image img-responsive" data-smartkarma-image-id="19349"></figure><p>Much less surprising is that some of the most populous states (California, New York) took in the most Chinese FDI in gross dollar terms.
