I love stonks and I love rambling. Sometimes, I feel it unfair to subject those around me with the inundation of my thoughts, so I tweet and I spill ink on here. Jokes aside, I love investing and edgy ideas; I hope to become a better investor and this is my journal to that end. I will be sharing value/special situations I come across organically or through other blogs/13F and I hope to provide a variant analytical view to said situations. I hope to receive constructive feedback and let’s grab some of dem benjamins together!

<ul><li>If anyone remembers, in the spring of last year, we had a banking crisis - multiple bank-runs that led to the some of the largest bank failures in US history.</li><li>Sparked by the bankruptcy of FTX, Silvergate was first hit by a bank run before the subsequent panic-induced domino-closure of <strong>three highly reputable banks</strong> - Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), NY based Signature Bank and lastly, First Republic Bank.</li><li>I still vividly remember the day, Peter Thiel “commanded his cronies” to pull their money out of SVB, ASAP; the stock gapped down bigly at opening and the rest is history.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Last night Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that in exchange for OpenAI’s position in MacOS, IOS, and iPadOS, Apple would pay OpenAI nothing. </li><li>To level set, earlier this week, Apple unveiled their implementation of artificial intelligence, branded “Apple Intelligence”.</li><li>Apple Intelligence separates itself from Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT by identifying and addressing user queries that contain personal information, but for capabilities it isn’t capable of performing, asking for user permission, and outsourcing the request to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, anonymously. </li></ul>

Investment Talk is for readers who wish to learn about companies that are potentially outside of their own circle of research, as well as those who are longing to become part of a community of like-minded investors and learn more about investment research. I would describe myself as a long-term investor who typically takes a 3Y to 5Y outlook, before reassessing once that period matures. I follow the adage that one should research, reach a conclusion, and then verify and continue to hold so long as the thesis remains intact. My own investing style is one that seeks to find dominant players within their respective market who have shown signs of monopoly or oligopolistic behaviour, unlikely to be disrupted, in tandem with discovering market disruptors who have a high likelihood of disrupting their respective market. Equally (and weighted accordingly) I seek to discover more nuanced, misunderstood, situations with a shorter time frame.

<ul><li>I was today-years-old when I learned that Europe has its own version of the Magnificent 7; the basket of giga-cap US tech companies comprised of Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla.</li><li>The GRANOLAS Dubbed the “Granolas” by Goldman Sachs in 2020, this basket was chosen because it echoed themes present amongst the Mag 7 (back then it was just “FAAMG”) .</li><li><p>Namely, they were market leaders in the STOXX 600 Europe Index, they had grown to become an increasingly larger share of the market, and their earnings had far outpaced the broader index.</p><div></div></li></ul>
