The Indonesian parliament approved the tax amnesty bill on 27 June 2016 which will now be implemented in July. This is the country’s fourth tax amnesty since independence. The aim of this bill is to bring back monies stashed overseas by Indonesians, broaden the tax base in Indonesia and help to plug the fiscal deficit. In this context, we see the credibility of central banks and how appropriately valued their currencies as crucial determinants of resilience in the face of potential shocks.</li><li>We examined inflation differentials to identify which currencies could be under threat and which would be relatively more robust.</li></ul>
