Swapnil was the TMT banker at BNP Paribas and was part of several large M&A and ECM transactions (Bharti-Zain, Bharti Infratel IPO, Schneider-Zicom among several others). He's also had a stint as an ecommerce entrepreneur having launched & led Mumbai's first online grocery player.

The total number of telecom towers in India stood at about 420,000 at the end of FY 2016 and the industry was estimated to rake in INR 1.36 trillion in annual revenue, with Bharti Infratel and Indus Towers accounting for 40.8% of the total market share. As the need to manage data traffic rises, tenancy ratio of towers is expected to increase from 1.7-1.9 to 2.9 by March 2020. We believe that this form of leasing will contribute significantly to the top line of telecom tower companies in India.

We have reduced our allocation to the dry bulk segment to 31% from 42%. The value play is over in our view and we believe stocks could be at the risk of “too soon too fast” in the near term. Conversely, we believe that the worst is over for the container shipping and we see higher returns for the sector in 2017-18. We have increased the allocation to the sector from 8% to 27%.
