<ul><li>Tire industry has started on a fundamental transition but could result in a transfer of market share away from the majors and towards tire makers based in Asia (outside of Japan).  </li><li>The traditional majors can no longer make enough profits by making and selling tires in rim sizes below 17- or 18-inches. The usual big companies view this as commoditized.  </li><li>Pirelli, Bridgestone and Michelin have each said explicitly that imports are flooding in to their home markets of Europe and North America, leaving less room for premium products.</li></ul>
