Hence, we expect the current rally in Rakuten’s share price to continue in the short run, driven by the enthusiasm over internet/e-commerce names during the pandemic. We believe further upside is likely once both the Logistics and the Mobile businesses start showing some positive results over the next few years.  </p><div class="content-highlight"><p>We conservatively expect Rakuten’s full-year OP excluding Mobile, Logistics, and Investment businesses to be around JPY110bn in FY12/20E. This translates into an EV/OP multiple of around 14.2x, which is on par with Rakuten’s 10-year historical average FY1 EV/OP multiple. This means, even at the current market price, investors are getting both the Logistics and the Mobile businesses technically “free of charge”. </p></div>

Initial expectations assume little impact from Covid-19 on the mobile business although we believe guidance for c. 1% consolidated revenue growth likely implies mobile erosion offset by Internet (Z Holdings) growth.  It also implies little disruption from Rakuten's facilities-based mobile launch, echoing comments from DoCoMo's results announcement the week before last. </p>

But Shimizu Bank was running into trouble long before the outbreak of COVID-19, with a chronically high Overhead Ratio (OHR) eating into revenues, falling net loan margins, downward pressure on net interest income and core earnings, and a tendency to rely on equity-related profits to shore up reported earnings.</p><p>Given that the bank only recently agreed to have online financial specialist <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/sbi-holdings-inc" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:10928:1" rel="noopener">Sbi Holdings (8473 JP)</a> acquire around 3% of Shimizu Bank’s shares and become a major shareholder, it seems that SBI Group’s president and financial entrepreneur Yoshitaka Kitao is going to be a busy man sorting his latest regional bank alliance out and recouping his investment.</p><p><em>Caveat Emptor!</em>  (May the Buyer Beware!)</p>
