$1.1bn hit from Madoff fraud. None of this is positive for HSBC. There can be increased operational risk req. Front office managers are likely to slow sales, they are worried. Risk, audit offices may opt to be overly conservative for any contingencies. Buybacks from the past recent years, may not reappear for a long time with this charge and with HSB increased investment.
