Key $70 support on the MSCI ACWI (ACWI-US) held strong last week, and ACWI-US is now inflecting topside its bullish falling wedge pattern. This bullish price action combined with market dynamics which remain mostly healthy lead us to believe the lows of this recent correction are in. We believe it's time to take profit on BYD (1211.HK) after its share price surged 184% YTD. Positive performance drivers are all priced in. Moreover market might have overestimated potential earnings contribution from BYD's new model, Han EV.Since July, BYD's share price has benefitted  from 1) BYD's subsidiary, BYD Electronic(0285.HK), had massive earnings increase from medical mask manufacture. The earnings contribution from this would fade significantly once Covid-19 fades.2) Positive expectation on new model Han. BYD reported its Han EV's second month's shipment in August at 4000 cars which excited the market. However, according to monthly new car delivery and insurance data posted by CAAM, only 1023 BYD's Han EVs were insured, which while reasonably good, is not exciting.3) China's EV sales, especially BEV sales growth turned positive since July. However this was mainly due to low base of last July. We need more data to see whether China's EV sales is getting stronger in absolute units or not.
