The IMF has revised up its 2023 global economic growth forecast despite noting continued challenges. The International Monetary Fund has slightly revised up its 2023 global growth forecast in its latest report. Despite noting strong first-quarter economic activity, the Fed warned that persistent obstacles were clouding the medium-term picture. Compared with the projections that the IMF made in April, global real GDP growth is predicted to reach 3.0% in 2023, higher by 0.2 p.p, yet with its 2024 forecast unchanged at 3.0%. Global headline inflation should fall to 6.8% in 2023 (2022: 8.7%), then to 5.2% in 2024, but core inflation will moderate more gradually, reaching 6.0% in 2023 (2022: 6.5%) and then 4.7% in 2024.
