Periscope Analytics focuses on event-driven trades across Asia Pacific and provides comprehensive, timely and systematic coverage of index changes to major Asia Pacific indices in a structured manner.

The analysis includes forecasted inclusions and exclusions to all major Asian indices that have significant amount of tracking assets, including estimates of passive buy/sell flow on the stocks. The service also provides commentary and impact of market consultations, ground rule changes, and other events (IPOs, spin-offs, M&A) that could lead to index changes and passive flow.

Periscope Analytics works with multi-strategy hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, stat arb trading groups and long-only investors that invest and trade in the Asia Pacific region with the data being used to trade index rebalances, avoid pre-positioning and passive flow, and to time entry into and exit from stocks.

<li>Korea and Taiwan are showing a clear divergence with short notional increasing as the market moves lower, indicative of new shorts being initiated.</li>

<a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/china-merchants-bank-co-ltd-3388a037-4214-4997-b45d-520518cfdb57" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:10987:1" rel="noopener">China Merchants Bank H (3968 HK)</a> has seen the largest short covering as the stock has tumbled in the last couple of weeks.</li>

We look at short interest across Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan in April to identify stocks/sectors that have seen the largest changes in each market.

<li>The ratio chosen is a takeunder vs Friday's closing price terms. An 18.8% hit for APT shareholders. </li>
<li>Shareholder structure suggests it gets done IF the FTC and NCC approve the deal, which would go against their approval last August of the FET capital injection into APT.</li>

On Friday, Far Eastone Telecomm (4904 TT) announced in a Taiwan Stock Exchange filing that it would merge with long-suffering Asia Pacific Telecom (3682 TT) in a scrip merger.
The ratio chosen is a takeunder vs Friday's closing price terms. An 18.8% hit for APT shareholders. 
Shareholder structure suggests it gets done IF the FTC and NCC approve the deal, which would go against their approval last August of the FET capital injection into APT.
