<li>On 14th April 2020, the Aditya Birla Group’s metals flagship company Hindalco announced that it has completed the acquisition of Aleris through its subsidiary Novelis for US$2.8bn. The deal was first announced in July 2018 at US$2.58bn. Although the deadline for the deal closure was January 2020, finalising the deal was delayed due to regulatory hurdles.</li>
<li>The deal will make Hindalco the world’s largest aluminium company and is expected to generate recurring synergies of about US$150m. However, high debt levels, divestment of Aleris’ auto assets due to regulatory pressures and falling aluminium prices will likely to dilute the benefits of this acquisition.</li>

On 14th April 2020, the Aditya Birla Group’s metals flagship company Hindalco announced that it has completed the acquisition of Aleris through its subsidiary Novelis for US$2.8bn. The deal was first announced in July 2018 at US$2.58bn. Although the deadline for the deal closure was January 2020, finalising the deal was delayed due to regulatory hurdles.

The 6 member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) was unanimous in its decision to hold rates. The consensus was again caught on the wrong foot as majority expected a rate cut.
