Among these are negative developments at the governmental level regarding the policing of corruption. We also feature a case study on the recent bond default by Delta Merlin Dunia, which highlights the problems inherent in governance with Indonesian corporates, particularly private firms. We believe that at the regulatory and corporate level there is often a capricious approach to governance, which is encouraged by a benign judicial system. The Asia Monthly focuses on providing updates on recent events, information on new issues and spread movements, as well as summarising our top picks and discussing specific areas of interest in the “In-Focus” section. ICTSI’s profitability eased off a record high as container volume growth affirmed the low-risk expansion strategy. Throughput growth has been resilient despite the raging US-China trade war; robust Philippines local economy will drive future growth. Meanwhile, revenue yield has been strong and we remain positive about the outlook as higher tariffs will continue to drive improvements in FY19, driven by strong throughput growth and tariff hikes at key terminals. Meanwhile, Asia-focused growth has delivered a strong bottom line and the company is now passing on the baton to the South Americas to take the lead as the next chapter in ICTSI’s growth story unfolds. Mexico expansion plan and the acquisition of Libra Rio are primed to position the company for long-term growth. ICTSI’s strong gateway terminal profile is expected to provide a shield to the slowdown which is marring the transhipment business. ICTSI’s stock surged over 40% since January 2019 as the company outperformed its anticipated growth and market has since priced in the company’s growth expectation. The stock currently trades 7.9x EV/EBITDA lower than its five-year average and below its peers’ average of 11.6x. Being an emerging market play, we rate the stock as Medium risk.
