Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

Technical Analysis

We remain skeptical of the market's upside potential, as we are not sure if anything actually changed in Fed policy, or as a result of the U.S./China trade ceasefire, which has seemingly raised more questions than answers. With that said, 2,817 remains the key resistance level in focus on the S&amp;P 500. In today’s report we highlight attractive opportunities within Airlines, and Home Health Care Services.

Value investing legend Warren Buffett's <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/1044" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:1044:1">Berkshire Hathaway Inc Cl A (A US)</a> surprised the investment community when the company revealed new investments in US airlines last November. Observers were even more surprised when a February filing revealed that Buffett had increased the company's airline investments during Q4 (despite Buffett's past criticisms of the industry). Why did Warren Buffett begin buying US airlines last year, after decades of avoiding the industry (and advising other investors to do the same)? And what, if anything, can we learn if we attempt to apply Buffett's investment rationale to China's state-owned airlines?

The following map shows cumulative Chinese FDI into the US by Congressional (voting) District between 2000 and 2015.
