<p>Our base case valuation of Dingdong is $30.9 per share or market cap of $7.6 billion. This would suggest a 21% upside from the high end IPO price range of $25.5 per share. </p><p>In our base case valuation, we used 2.0x EV/S multiple, using our estimated sales of 21.9 billion RMB in 2022. Our base case valuation multiple of 2.0x is at a 69% discount to the median EV/S multiple of the comps. The comps such as Meituan and Pinduoduo are much larger companies with greater economies of scale of better profitability.</p><p>However, we do believe that Dingdong should be given some credit since it generated a tremendous sales growth in 2020 (only DoorDash generated higher sales growth in 2020). In addition, despite some slowing sales growth in 1Q 2021, we expect its sales growth in 2022 (34%) to be relatively close to the comps' sales growth (36%). </p>

DiDi Chuxing IPO - At Fair Value, with Partial Lock-Up and Index Inclusion Pulling It Either Way

<p><a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/dingdong-maicai" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:33461:1" rel="noopener">Dingdong Maicai (DDL US)</a> is seeking to raise as much as $357 million from its sale of 14 million ADS on the New York Stock Exchange. The IPO price range is from <a href="https://www.scmp.com/business/banking-finance/article/3138439/chinese-grocery-platforms-missfresh-dingdong-scale-down-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$23.50 to $25.50 per share</a>. The amount the company is trying to raise is down from about $500 million the company was hoping to raise as of early this month. However, the recent IPO volatility is likely to have contributed in reducing the overall IPO offering amount. </p>
<p>Dingdong is one of the biggest companies in China that deliver groceries, mainly in key Chinese cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Hangzhou. Dingdong has already raised nearly $1.3 billion since the company was founded in 2017.</p>
<p>The main underwriters of this IPO include Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Credit Suisse and HSBC. There is a greenshoe option to sell up to an additional 2.1 million ADS shares. The company's major existing shareholders including Tiger Global and Softbank have agreed to purchase up to $200 million worth of the offering. Dingdong is targeting more than $6 billion in valuation in this IPO.</p>
