<li>The Hong Kong Alpha portfolio underperformed its benchmark index during April by 1.1%.  Since its inception last year, the portfolio has outperformed its benchmark by 18%.</li>
<li>Although the tech sector was hit after April 2nd, the portfolio made 2% in its tech exposure for the month.  We reduced the portfolio's volatility &amp; increased its Sharpe ratio.</li>
<li>At the end of April, sold positions that are at risk from the tariff uncertainty and increased our exposure to China domestic consumption.</li>

<li>The companies with the maximum revenue exposure to the US market are <a target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stella International (1836 HK)</a>, with 47%, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crystal International (2232 HK)</a>, with 38%, and <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/lever-style-corporation" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:35760:1" rel="noopener">Lever Style (1346 HK)</a>, with 58%.</li>
<li>We anticipate that the negative sentiment will continue to hinder the sector until a reasonable negotiation occurs. In the meantime, there are no beneficiaries in this trade war.</li>

<li>The portfolio has generated alpha while maintaining a correlation of 0.8 and a beta of 1.05.  The HK Alpha portfolio has a Sharpe ratio of 2.19 YTD.</li>

<li> About 75% of the portfolio's excess returns have been from alpha generation. The portfolio had no exposure to Real Estate, Energy or Materials. </li>

We exit 4 positions at the end of the month and add positions in software, tech components, travel and restaurant sectors.
