Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

Technical Analysis

The MSCI ACWI and ACWI ex-US have managed to break above their respective 200-day moving averages, and are now bumping up against overhead resistance.  Supportive of a bottoming global market, cyclical Sectors are emerging as leadership. We examine the technical state of major developed and EM markets and highlight in today’s report and highlight attractive and actionable stocks within the Materials, Manufacturing, and Technology sectors.

We remain constructive overall and continue to believe that global equities (MSCI ACWI) are going through a bottoming process. Global Equity Strategy: Constructive Outlook Intact, Bottoming Process Continues

MSCI Emerging Markets Index / Technical Analysis

Our overall global outlook remains cautious and continued downward pressure on global equities remains our expectation. One bright spot is EM (more on this below), which continues to give us hope that global equities can bottom out.  We provide a technical appraisal of major markets and highlight actionable setups within the global Utilities and Staples Sectors.

Global Ex-U.S. Equity Strategy: MSCI EM in Early Stages of Bottoming

Broad global indexes (MSCI ACWI, ACWI ex-U.S., EAFE, and EM) are all trading within patterns of lower highs and lower lows, leading us to believe the most likely scenario is that this near-term bounce is likely nothing more than a countertrend rally before longer-term downtrends reassert themselves. The one bright spot is EM.  In this report we highlight a number of attractive set-ups within the Financial, Communication, Engineering &amp; Construction, and Transportation Sectors.
