Baptista Research is an independent financial research house focused on the U.S. markets. We provide equity research as well as credit research reports on the top-listed U.S. companies with most of our focus on technology, consumer goods and services, automobiles, industrials, oil and gas, pharma, and healthcare. Our research has served more than 3000 institutional investors including mutual funds, hedge funds, banks, family offices, and various buy-side firms. Baptista Research is owned and managed by Ishan Majumdar, an ex-Venture Capitalist/ Investment Banker, a Chartered Accountant, and a Masters’ degree holder in Management from HEC Paris. Ishan has nearly a decade of experience in Mergers and Acquisitions, Leveraged Buyouts (LBOs), Venture Capital Investing, Corporate Strategy, and Valuation in front-office roles at the likes of BNP Paribas CIB, Credit Agricole CIB, Groupe Danone, and TIW Private Equity. He has worked on and closed multiple acquisition deals, leveraged buyouts, and start-up investment transactions.

<li>Iron ore broke out of its three-year band two weeks ago and, after a brief recovery, trended lower by 9% WoW. It is now within touching distance of 90 USD/ton. </li>
<li>Chinese steel margins showed no signs of improving, with the average mills losing 70-80 USD/ton. Iron ore inventories continued to climb at the ports, exceeding 150 million tons.</li>
<li>We would stay clear of iron ore names for the time being as we wait for iron ore to consolidate at some levels. </li>

Iron Ore Tracker (9-Sep-2024): Short-Term Bearish Signals More Prominent

<li>Iron ore found no support at the 95-100 USD/ton range for the first time in a while and broke through it, gapping down 8.8% WoW to 92 USD/ton.</li>
<li>This break is a major short-term bearish signal for iron ore prices, as market participants would lose confidence in the theory of cost support at 95-100 USD/ton. </li>
<li>TSF data and mill margins ( -575 RMB/ton) from China also do not inspire much confidence in the near-term outlook for iron ore. </li>
