<ul><li>Malaysian rubber industry took a massive hit on production, posting a yearly drop of 26.8 % in November amid a decline in the contribution of smallholders owing to rain driven supply disruptions, as per the data published by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) on January 14, 2022. November natural rubber production dropped by 26.8% to 31,577 tons compared to October 2021, while the year-on-year decline was 25.8%.</li><li>The was a drop in the contribution of the smallholder’s sector to 89.8% as compared to 90.5% in October.</li><li>However, the contribution from the estate sector rose to 10.2% from 9.5% in the previous month. Malaysia and the other rubber-producing countries struggled with unprecedented rains and unpredictable weather in November 2021, which resulted in massive supply disruptions and production cuts.</li></ul>
