<ul><li>Indian natural rubber prices are on a downward spiral with a bevy of factors working against the producers.</li><li>Meanwhile, a positive production outlook with an uptick in tire production could fuel some optimism for the Indian rubber prices in the coming weeks.  The prices for RSS-4 fell from INR 176/kg (US$ 2.31) in the first week of April to INR 171/kg (US$ 2.24) by April 10 and then made a marginal recovery to INR 172/kg (US$2.26) the next day and have been steady for the past one week. A Rubber Board source attributed the drop to bearish downstream demand coupled with a supply glut situation due to a hike in imports.</li><li>"The overall import of rubber in recent times went up by 110,000 tons, but tire production was no match with the pandemic and chip shortage impacting vehicle sales.</li></ul>
