<ul><li>Indian tire exports have made an impressive surge of 55% in the ten months leading to January 2022 compared to the same period last year due to a slowdown in the domestic tire replacement market and favorable global market conditions pre-Ukraine war. The tire industry made the most of the post-pandemic crucial demand rebound last year, recording a quantum jump during April 2021-Jan 2022, mainly with exports in sectors like aircraft tires (250%), scooter tires (168%), car tires (95%), bus/lorry radial tires (83%) and motorcycle tires (63%). The total tire exports scaled to INR 17274.45 Crore (US$2.25 billion) in April 2021-Jan 2022 period, from INR 11137.88 Crore (US$1.45 billion).</li><li>Car tire exports were worth US$ 150 million in the ten months leading to January 2022, while the best figures were in agriculture/forestry vehicles/machines tires at US$ 930 million (up 49%), followed by bus/lorries tires at US$ 588 million (radial and bias together) and industrial tires at US$447 million (up 55%).</li><li>On the other hand, aircraft tires, which made the highest 250% gain, were a tad low at US$ 420,149. Export market players look beyond China Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) Director-General Rajiv Budhraja said the thrust of export markets to look for suppliers beyond China aided Indian exports’ robust growth.</li></ul>
