<ul><li>Malaysian rubber exports posted a marginal month-on-month rise of 0.1% in July to 48,645 tons in July 2021 against 48,589 tons in June 2021, owing to a slowdown in imports from China, as per the data published by the Department of Statistics, Malaysia. China continued to remain the key importer of Malaysian natural rubber accounting for 44.6% of the volume produced by the country but saw a month-on-month drop in volume by 17.2% to 21,700 tons in July, as per the report. However, the U.S.A, the second biggest market for Malaysian rubber saw a massive rise of 34.2% in exports.</li><li>The other key importers in July were Finland (2,419 tons, down 33.3%), Turkey (1,384 tons, up 24.1%), and Egypt (1,310 tons, up 70%). Meanwhile, gloves which are the main rubber-based products exported saw a drop of 39.9% in terms of value to RM 3.9 billion in July 2021 as compared to RM 6.4 billion in June 2021.Domestic consumption also saw a drop of 23% to 26,669 tons in July from 34,820 tons in June 2021.Natural rubber production posted a growth of 22.3% in July 2021 to 47,473 tons on a month-on-month basis, while the production increased by 13.6% on a year-on-year basis.This growth was largely driven by a 24.8% increase in production natural rubber production by the smallholder sector in July while production from the estate sector moved marginally up by 2.1%.</li><li>Even though the smallholder sector remained positive posting an 18% growth on a year-on-year basis, the estate sector saw a drop of 17.6% in their production.  </li></ul>
