<p>Lee is finally indicted. At the same time, Samsung announced several interesting measures to revamp its governance structure. But a potentially more important is that the commercial law amendments tabled by the main opposition party did not pass in the latest provisional session of national assembly. Given Korea's upcoming presidential election schedule, it looks unlikely that these so-called economic democratization bills will be put on table again for review at the national assembly any time soon. So, I guess it is the time for us to do some legal studies to get a good sense of what will likely happen in relation to Samsung restructuring (and also some other prominent chaebols including Hyundai Motor Group).</p>
