In this insight, we take a look at the potential index changes for Singapore's ST index ("STI") between now and the September 2023 index review.
In my previous insight (link), I mentioned Sembcorp Marine (SMM SP) could miss out on being added to the STI in March 2023 and that happened to be true.
However, based on the current data, Sembcorp Marine (SMM SP) could finally be added to the STI in September 2023.

<li>For the month of February, 14 new deals (firm and non-binding) were discussed on Smartkarma with an overall announced deal size of ~US$23bn.</li>
<li>The average premium for the new deals announced (or first discussed) in February was 34%.</li>
<li>This compares to the average premium for all deals in 2022 (106 deals), 2021 (165 deals), 2020 (158 deals), and 2019 (145 deals) of 41%, 33%, 31%, and 31% respectively.</li>

Technical Analysis

<li>Sembcorp Marine shows interesting bull support at 0.12 where price and trendline meet but does face global cycle headwinds in March. Sell near term above 14.</li>
<li>MACD trendline support under pressure and a must hold level for the bull case. An MACD would spell trouble for price.</li>
<li>Current weakness if viewed as a pullback after the May to June bull triangle breakout. 11 is the key pivot level to hold.</li>
</ul>
