Periscope Analytics focuses on event-driven trades across Asia Pacific and provides comprehensive, timely and systematic coverage of index changes to major Asia Pacific indices in a structured manner.

The analysis includes forecasted inclusions and exclusions to all major Asian indices that have significant amount of tracking assets, including estimates of passive buy/sell flow on the stocks. The service also provides commentary and impact of market consultations, ground rule changes, and other events (IPOs, spin-offs, M&A) that could lead to index changes and passive flow.

Periscope Analytics works with multi-strategy hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, stat arb trading groups and long-only investors that invest and trade in the Asia Pacific region with the data being used to trade index rebalances, avoid pre-positioning and passive flow, and to time entry into and exit from stocks.

<li>We forecast one add/delete for the Game Index, and a couple of adds/deletes for the BBIG Index. There will be a lot of capping changes.</li>

The review period for the March rebalance ends on 31 January, the changes will be announced towards end February and implemented at the close of trading on 9 March.
We forecast one add/delete for the Game Index, and a couple of adds/deletes for the BBIG Index. There will be a lot of capping changes.
The largest inflows are expected on Posco Chemical (003670 KS) and Douzone Bizon (012510 KS); the largest outflows are expected on SK Innovation (096770 KS) and KMW (032500 KS).

<li>The key to this rebalancing is the inclusion of WCP, which satisfies the requirements of minimum listing period and secondary battery sales amount.</li>
<li>As a hedge for the LONG WCP position, we can use Soulbrain and Solus Advanced, whose passive outflow is relatively high among those of a similar size to WCP.</li>
<li>Among large caps, we should pay attention to L&amp;F, Posco Chemical, and Iljin Materials. However, we should be cautious about approaching them as an active trading target.</li>

<li>At the end of September 2022, Korean stocks accounted for 13.6% of total assets of the NPS whose target for domestic stock exposure is 15.9% by end of this year. </li>
<li>In recent months, NPS has been net increasing purchases of companies including Naver, Celltrion, POSCO Chemical, Samsung Life Insurance, and Krafton. </li>
<li>Although the allowable range for SAA by NPS is ±3%p, there is some leeway for NPS to add to the domestic equities given that they were much lower than target. </li>

<li>There is still insufficient evidence data to estimate specific passive impact. The previous rebalancing in June showed no clear correlation between constituent changes and price impact.</li>
<li>Although it may be risky to trade on this rebalancing, monitoring the correlation of their passive impact at this point, one year after the release, seems worthwhile.</li>
</ul>

<li>LG Chem's deletion is almost a done deal. The pouch-type pack goes to LG Energy, and the cathode business is not big enough to beat L&amp;F.</li>
<li>Chunbo is an additive field that this index has not included so far. So, Chunbo will be added as a new addition rather than replacing someone else.</li>
<li>SK IE Tech is quite tricky. The key is to see separator and elecfoil as the same field. If so, SK IET is likely to replace Iljin Materials.</li>
</ul>
