This seemed like an overhang, but has ended up not being so much of one.The interim period, while showing a sideways trend for Renesas, saw its Peers outperform dramatically. The announcement of the equity offering and its size looked like it would present significant overhang. It has not turned out to be the case. There has been a "buy the news" reaction. It is a big offering. There are a bunch of moving parts. And lots of index flow.

Renesas Equity Offering - Priced To Go With Index Demand Now and Later

DRAM spot prices have tumbled 11% since early April.  Does this imply a DRAM market downturn in the current quarter?  Will Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron report lower revenues?  A close look at the figures implies that this correction is unlikely to be severe enough to drive a revenue decrease.

DRAM and NAND flash makers have reported their first quarter earnings, and this has shown that DRAM revenues have grown slowly and NAND flash has stayed relatively flat.  DRAM and NAND market share breakouts have remained relatively stable for a year or longer, but recent spot market activity indicates that DRAM revenues may be headed for a correction.
