<li>This skew trade has a slight inherent short bias as Nikkei is more growth skewed but it has nevertheless generated a positive return. </li>
<li>That is despite Nikkei rising 3.8% since we published our initial note.</li>

<li>It announced ¥4trn in investments by 2030 and the launch of 15 new BEVs across the Toyota and Lexus brands within the next few years. </li>
<li>The breadth of models is impressive and could perhaps be benefitting from its battery partnership with BYD.</li>

<li>Ping An Insurance and BYD had the biggest short covering, while China Merchants Bank saw the largest increase in shorts over the year.</li>
