A bit over a year ago Renesas Electronics (6723 JP) announced its transaction to buy Dialog Semiconductor (DLG GR) for €4.8bn (roughly ¥624bn) and the transaction closed end-August 2021.
In September, Renesas announced a "Progress Update" covering various business segments, expectations for supply in the sector, and eventual "shareholder return" policy.
This past week the Nikkei carried an article talking about a possible stock buyback later this year. I explore.

This is a high-quality tech company, with significant revenue growth and earnings momentum, generating returns well above its cost of capital, a net cash balance sheet, and an attractive sustainable 2%+ dividend yield. 
Although current valuation levels are above historical average levels, and fair at best, further revenue growth expectation upgrades coupled with fair gross margin expansion forecasts, and a management team confident of having secured sufficient manufacturing capacity to address exceptionally strong end-product demand, makes the continuation of the earnings upgrade cycle seem probable, which in turn should continue to be a positive share price catalyst. Parade Technologies is also expected to see large passive inflows during November 2021 following the MSCI November 2021 Semi-Annual Index Review.

Since 2021, the global MCU market has been suffering from a persistent shortage of stock, and prices have soared. That’s why I read these calls; to understand the whole, you must understand the parts.</li><li>Smartphone markets continue to recover, but the demand is sluggish, and handsets should be flattish for the year. Industrial is bottoming at multiple companies, and Skyworks looks like it lost RF share to Qorvo. Telecom looks to be bottoming (NXPI).</li><li>I think it's pretty clear that the automotive cycle should be bought, not sold. And we continue to see strength in consumers (AMKR, QCOM). I am starting to like the Rambus story again, as I think their client business, the PMIC, and potentially CXL businesses could add 200m+ incremental revenue on top of the DDR5 share story in the coming years.</li></ul>
