Sona Comstar (Sona) aims to raise around US$800m in its Indian IPO. The company is backed by Blackstone, which held a 66.2% stake prior to listing.Sona is an automotive technology company, designing, manufacturing and supplying highly engineered, mission critical automotive systems and components to automotive OEMs across US, Europe, India and China, for both electrified and non-electrified powertrain segments.Sona delivered a steady performance in 2019 with revenue up 16.6% and PAT up 24.1%. However, its revenue fell by 14.5% in FY20, although it still managed to grow its PAT by 4%. In addition, its 9M21 performance was propped by a single EV customer. While the company enjoys a long customer relationship, its largest customers haven’t consistently grown their contribution to revenue over the past few years.

Key highlights were limited to: AUM growth; new customer acquisition; and deposit growth; and  *Credit Challenges Far From Over With: The day of reckoning is coming for Bajaj as net new NPLs amounted to INR 23.0 bn during FY 3Q21 – increasing at 520% on an annualized basis. By our calculation, reserves need to increase INR 177 bn or nearly 8x - representing nearly three years of PBT and over 50% of shareholder’s equity.

It reported highest ever quarterly revenue. Key positive surprises were market share gain in the export market (90bp gain) and 25%+ growth in the spare parts business. Hero Motocorp also did well in the domestic market with 190bp market share gain. This coupled with low base effect helped Hero Motocorp post strong earnings. Revenues grew 40% YoY, EBITDA grew 36% YoY while PAT grew 23% YoY (losses at couple of associates tapered down the PAT growth). EBITDA margins at 14.5% came in within the medium-term guidance of 14-16% range.
