Mapletree Logistics Trust / Equity Capital Markets

<li>We have earlier covered the previous six placements for the REIT since 2017. Most of the past deals have done well except for the two most recent ones.</li>
<li>In this note, we will run the deal through our ECM framework and talk about deal dynamics.</li>

MLT Placement - Small Deal but Recent Deals Didn’t Do Well

Pertamina Geothermal Energy PT / Equity Capital Markets

<li>Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) raised around US$600m in its Indonesia IPO. PGE is an Indonesian state owned power producer which utilizes geothermal energy to produce electricity.</li>
<li>PGE currently manages 13 Geothermal Working Areas with a total capacity of 1,877 MW, of which 672 MW is owned by it, while 1,205 MW is via joint operations.</li>
<li>In our previous notes, we looked at the company’s past performance and valuations. In this note, we talk about the deal dynamics ahead of its listing.</li>

<li>As per ITC, it was the number two pet food company in Asia and in the top ten pet food companies globally. ITC expertise lies in fish-based wet pet food.</li>

<li>OCBC reported 4Q21 net profit of SGD 973 mn, declining 20.5% linked quarter, as a result of an increase in loss provisions and higher costs; </li>
<li>Were it not for the 51.8% decline in Singapore NPLs, credit quality would have been disastrous for OCBC with credit falling off of a cliff regionally; and </li>
<li>Given the increase in net new NPLs, reserves would appear to now be wanting by SGD 2.8 bn plus or nearly three quarters of bottom-line results. </li>

OCBC reported 4Q21 net profit of SGD 973 mn, declining 20.5% linked quarter, as a result of an increase in loss provisions and higher costs;

Oversea Chinese Banking Corp.- Another Weak Print

*Challenging Result: Oversea Chinese Banking Corp. (OCBC.SP) [OCBC] reported 2Q21 net profit of SGD 1.2 bn, a SGD 341 mn (22.7%) decrease on a linked quarter basis. OCBC’s bottom-line weakness was primarily attributable to two factors: 1) SGD 71 mn (44.1%) increase in the loss provision, which is well justified given the re-acceleration in net new NPL growth; and 2) SGD 362 mn (24.6%) decrease in overall fee revenues, driven primarily by weaker attributable Great Eastern (GE.SP) earnings which likely will be here to stay; and  *Credit Breaking Down After Reprieve:  By our calculation, we find that net new NPL growth has re-acclerated to SGD 771 mn or 78.3% on an annualized basis versus a negative SGD 78 mn or 8.0% for 1Q21. Given the increase in net new NPLs, reserve would appear to now be wanting by SGD 3.1 bn or just under three quarters of bottom-line results.
