Periscope Analytics

Periscope Analytics focuses on event-driven trades across Asia Pacific and provides comprehensive, timely and systematic coverage of index changes to major Asia Pacific indices in a structured manner.

The analysis includes forecasted inclusions and exclusions to all major Asian indices that have significant amount of tracking assets, including estimates of passive buy/sell flow on the stocks. The service also provides commentary and impact of market consultations, ground rule changes, and other events (IPOs, spin-offs, M&A) that could lead to index changes and passive flow.

Periscope Analytics works with multi-strategy hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, stat arb trading groups and long-only investors that invest and trade in the Asia Pacific region with the data being used to trade index rebalances, avoid pre-positioning and passive flow, and to time entry into and exit from stocks.

<li>There has also been a jump in the Hang Seng Stock Connect China AH Premium Index and big inflows to mainland China ETF raising the possibility of National Team buying.</li>
<li>A stabilisation in onshore China markets could lead to the AH premium dropping back towards parity and we would gradually scale out of long A/ short H positions.</li>

The premium of Ping An Insurance Group of (601318 CH) to Ping An Insurance (H) (2318 HK) has jumped from 4% to 14% in the space of a week.
There has also been a jump in the Hang Seng Stock Connect China AH Premium Index and big inflows to mainland China ETF raising the possibility of National Team buying.
A stabilisation in onshore China markets could lead to the AH premium dropping back towards parity and we would gradually scale out of long A/ short H positions.

Yet another week of inflows to the Tracker Fund of Hong Kong Ltd (2800 HK) ETF and outflows from the Hang Seng H Share Index ETF (2828 HK).

<li>Passive trackers are estimated to trade around +/-0.5 days ADV on most of the potential adds/deletes, though there are some deletes that will have over 1 day ADV to sell.</li>
<li>The potential inclusion to one or both indices have outperformed the potential deletes by a huge margin in the 5 months. We'd wait for a pullback to re-enter positions.</li>
