Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

Technical Analysis

Market dynamics remain largely healthy, and new developments continue to point to improving risk appetites. Still, Energy (XOP, RYE) is the only cyclical value Sector that has been able to decisively break to new price highs, while others remain in congestion. Recent shorts in metals did meet if not exceed downside targets at copper 4.0, palladium 2,350 with platinum still contending with triangulation. Short re cycle levels and break points are the focus.China and the USD are key inputs to drive a fresh down leg in base metals. The demand side of the equation (China) is overshadowing the USD pullback (nearing support). We are also moving into a seasonally weak period for risk.Gold remains bullish to test 1,850 where a tactical top is due.

Until supports start to break we cannot be bearish, though we would not be surprised to see ~5% downside with potential for more.

A freshly exposed surface of pure copper has a reddish-orange color.
