According to Frost &amp; Sullivan (F&amp;S), in terms of retail sales value in 2020, WDG ranked first among all spicy snack food enterprises in China, with a market share of 5.7%, and ranked first in each of the seasoned flour product and spicy vegetable snack product categories.</p><p>Overall revenue growth has been strong at 23% YoY in 2019 and 21.7% in 2020 driven both by an increase in volumes and prices over 2019-20. Vegetable products have been the fastest growing category with a CAGR of 98% over FY18-20.</p><p>Along with strong revenue growth, WDG gross profit growth has been even stronger, with gross profit growing by 25-31% YoY over 2018-20. PAT grew at 25-38% over 2018-20.</p>

Dali Foods declared an interim dividend of 0.075 HKD, equivalent to about 47% of net profit. </p>
<p>The company's main three product areas posted wildly divergent results in H120. Sales of <em>Household Consumption</em> items -- soy-based drinks and bread products -- held up well during the pandemic, rising 7.7% YoY. Sales of <em>Snacks</em> declined, but only by 2% YoY. But Dali's <em>Ready to Drink</em><em>Beverages</em> saw sales decline by almost 23% YoY due to intense competition in the segment. </p>
<p>All told, Dali's sales performance in H120 barely outperformed overall retail sales in China (Dali -8.7% versus -10.9% retail sales excluding autos). Certainly the pace of revenue growth will recover here in H2 as pandemic fears subside, but we see few reasons to get excited about the stock. Retain SELL and HK$4.18 target price, implying 16% downside from the closing price on September 4. </p>
