Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

Technical Analysis

<li>Ever since our 5/30/23 ETF Pathfinder, our view has been that we cannot be bearish unless a key support level breaks (at the time, that was 4050 on the SPX).</li>
<li>The S&amp;P 500 is now above 4300-4325 -- a level that, in January this year, we had anticipated would cap upside for 2023.</li>
<li>We believe 4300-4325 will act as major support moving forward, and we are bullish as long as the SPX is above 4300; we discussed this in our 7/3/23 ETF Pathfinder.</li>

Ever since our 5/30/23 ETF Pathfinder, our view has been that we cannot be bearish unless a key support level breaks (at the time, that was 4050 on the SPX).
The S&amp;P 500 is now above 4300-4325 -- a level that, in January this year, we had anticipated would cap upside for 2023.
We believe 4300-4325 will act as major support moving forward, and we are bullish as long as the SPX is above 4300; we discussed this in our 7/3/23 ETF Pathfinder.


DXY Break Below $101 Suggests Breakouts Likely Coming for Equal-Weight SPX, Dow, and Russell 2000

<li>We discussed last week how consolidation was likely, so far that has played out with the SPX back testing the 4300-4325 area which we anticipated would cap upside for 2023.</li>
<li>We continue to watch short-term support at 4300, and we cannot be bearish if the S&amp;P 500 is above 4300.</li>
<li>The Russell 2000 (IWM) is back to test support at $180; we would expect to see this hold as support, but a failure to hold would mean a trip to $170
</li>

<ul><li>When considering future investment opportunities, the renewable energy transition continues to be an exciting space to investors given its enormous potential total addressable market coupled with climate change legislation that is acting as a tailwind in virtually every G-20 country.</li><li>Almost every month, there continues to be a steady drumbeat of new rules issued locally and across the globe which results in faster timelines to transition to battery storage and other clean energy as well as tighter restrictions to ultimately phase out traditional gas powered transportation and coal power.</li><li>For example, while California has already passed rules requiring all new cars, pickup trucks and SUVs sold to be electric or hydrogen by 2035, California approved rules last week which will require all new medium heavy-duty truck and bus sales sold in the state in 2036 to be zero-emission</li></ul>

<ul><li>After briefly dipping down to around 4.25%, last week saw a new cycle high for the closely followed 2 year Treasury yield breaking through the 4.8% level and ending the week at 4.814%.</li><li>This came off the back of continued unfavorably strong inflation and spending data from economic reports issued over the past few weeks (Core PCE, retail sales, GDP, PPI, etc.).</li><li>With the earnings yield on the S&amp;P 500 is 4.68%, the equity risk premium on the S&amp;P 500 (estimated earnings yield less 10yr treasury yield) is now the lowest since late 2007.</li></ul>

<li>Breakouts above their 200-day MAs that would likely signal the end to this bear market.</li>

Despite $IWM already hitting our price target at 200-day MA/YTD downtrend, and the $SPX getting to within 1% of our target at 200-day MA, we see this 1.5-month rally continuing.
We expect further upside as long as the 1.5-month uptrend channels remain intact on the SPX and IWM, and we believe that breakouts above their 200-day MAs could be coming
Breakouts above their 200-day MAs that would likely signal the end to this bear market.
