Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

Technical Analysis

The S&amp;P 500 has paused just below logical resistance at the downtrend, and we believe the equity market is in wait-and-see mode for incremental information on a variety of issues including trade talks, Fed action and earnings.  Meanwhile, We are upgrading equal-weighted Technology to overweight. Our equal-weighted Tech Sector has surged to the top of our RSR ranks due to broad-based strength in semiconductors last week. Solar stocks are another Group that is emerging as leadership. In today’s report we highlight attractive small-cap Technology stocks, as well as selection of key stocks (MSFT, AMZN, GOOGL, V, NFLX, and ADBE) and subsectors (semis, biotech, and homebuilders) which are all up against logical price resistance.

In our March Strategy we provide a top down analysis of U.S. equity market drivers, and highlight opportunities within the following Sectors:• Technology: Overweight.  Technology remains a leadership Sector as uptrends and significant bases remain intact. The recent pullback has resulted in a number of groups breaking to new highs especially in the Software related groups. Historically investors will move to software related names to reduce risk as these companies often have a source of reoccurring revenue. Large- and Mid-cap semiconductors have also been quite resilient, whereas small- and micro-cap semis are seeing breakdowns in price and RS.• Financials: Overweight. Financials continue to plod up and to the right. Banks and thrifts, exchanges, investing banking and brokerage, pawn shops and Latin/South American banks look attractive.

<ul><li>We believe the intraday low of 2,532.69 made by the S&amp;P 500 on 2/9/18 marked an important short-term bottom within the long-term advance. We continue to see this low and  the 200-day moving average as critical support levels should there be a retest. After a quick recovery from these lows, the S&amp;P 500 has paused near the 50-day moving average, a logical resting area as the market determines its next move. </li><li>In today’s report we highlight attractive and actionable groups within Technology, all relating to software and the attractiveness of dependable recurring revenues: Software; Enterprise Applications, E-Commerce, Education, and Customer Relationship Mgt.
