Periscope Analytics focuses on event-driven trades across Asia Pacific and provides comprehensive, timely and systematic coverage of index changes to major Asia Pacific indices in a structured manner.

The analysis includes forecasted inclusions and exclusions to all major Asian indices that have significant amount of tracking assets, including estimates of passive buy/sell flow on the stocks. The service also provides commentary and impact of market consultations, ground rule changes, and other events (IPOs, spin-offs, M&A) that could lead to index changes and passive flow.

Hang Seng has announced the conclusions of the market consultation. Primary-listed foreign stocks will be eligible for inclusion in the HSI INDEX and HSTECH INDEX from the December rebalance.
The coming week has the rebalances for the NIFTY Index, Nifty Next 50 Index, Nifty Bank Index and SENSEX Index as a result of the HDFC Limited/ HDFC Bank merger.
There were inflows to Tracker Fund of Hong Kong Ltd (2800 HK) and outflows from Hang Seng H Share Index ETF (2828 HK) during the week.

<li>Vinda said its 1Q23 operating profit declined 85.4% to HK$65mn. Vinda also announced its controlling shareholder <strong><a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/essity-ab" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:28203:1" rel="noopener">Essity (ESSITYB SS)</a></strong> will commence a strategic review of its 51.59% ownership.</li>
<li>A long-term shareholder potentially seeking a possible divestment, shortly after a company announces poor results, is not a great look.</li>

Tissue-Maker Vinda International (3331 HK) closed down 6.4% yesterday, recovering from a 13.8% fall intra day.
Vinda said its 1Q23 operating profit declined 85.4% to HK$65mn. Vinda also announced its controlling shareholder Essity (ESSITYB SS) will commence a strategic review of its 51.59% ownership.
A long-term shareholder potentially seeking a possible divestment, shortly after a company announces poor results, is not a great look.

<li>With no changes made at the March rebalance, we are still stuck at 76 index constituents. And it's been a year later than originally planned to reach 80 index constituents.</li>
<li>We list 10 potential inclusions in June. Adding all 10 stocks will lead to around 5% one-way turnover, so there could be a mix of larger and smaller stocks added.</li>
<li>There will be at least 1x ADV to trade on nearly all inclusions. Short interest is over 4% of float on some stocks and there has been a recent jump.</li>
</ul>
