Chart Partners objective is to discover medium-term cycle turns and profit opportunities before they unfold, within structural trends while preserving capital with clear degrees of risk. We have real return ideas.

Technical Analysis

Equity hedge bets were taken off on December 7-8 after the S&amp;P powered above 2,016/20 projection opening the way for continued strength. US sector bets are on fire (financials, transports and energy) with the former extended. Rotation into tech and healthcare recommended. Expect sector breadth to expand. Europe joining the party.Game plan going forward is to protect any draw down via short hedges and build on long positions on dips for a bullish January and March (Feb most likely will get a correction).Eurostoxx 50 registered a bullish breakout above the 3,100 pivot/action point, initiating a long from 3,150. Bullish triangulation supports a power move higher. Near term perform sleeper coming to life.T-note yield relief from 2.45%/124.40 turn levels short lived with resistance at 125.99. 2017 target is 2.95-3.0%.Gold protective long not worth holding but is in a basing process.DXY due to push higher ahead of the Fed with a sell the fact bias for a pullback/rest. We see pundits pricing in two more rate hikes rather quickly as inflation expectations ratchet higher.EEM – Short hedge at 35 covered at 36.20. Brazil and Turkey short covered at breakeven levels. Bullish S&amp;P bias is pulling up the underperformers. Bullish USD to induce increasing headwinds for EM’s. EEM 37 is the fresh fade zone.Japan – Nikkei 17,000 long. Bank long sold at 195 (+17%) with 1/3 protective hedge short. USD/JPY 102.70 long with ST projection at 115.84/ 116.50 pullback level at 111.20/110. We remain very bullish Japan to 23,000.Asia longs – Small India Nifty long from 7,752. Big H share 9,200 long. Long Catcher, Ping An, Angang Steel, Tencent (re set long near 185-182) and Anhui Conch cement. Nikkei and H shares remain top long bets.  USD long vs MYR, SGD, KRW, TWD (ZAR and TRY).Asia shorts – SHK 108 pair short. STI short from 5,870 SL at 2,940. Taiwan protective short average at 9,145. Thai SET50 925 short. Malaysia short from 1,628. Small Nifty short from 8,220 covered at 8,200 and will look to re set at 8,340.Cycles – Buying opportunities unfolding sooner than expected ahead of a bullish January.
