BACKGROUND
I have 20+yrs experience in Asia doing alternative strategies (i.e. non-delta1 non long-only) in fixed income, equity derivatives, and activist/catalyst/event-driven and long-short equity strategies with most of that time spent managing money. 

4 years in fixed income macro, 8 years running internal hedge fund and 4yrs investment banking at Citi in Japan, 3 years running an Asia multi-strat portfolio at a hedge fund, 4+yrs as an independent special situations analyst.

<li>On Thursday 7 August, the TSE/Nikkei <a href="https://indexes.nikkei.co.jp/nkave/archives/news/20250807E_1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the changes for the JPX Nikkei 400 28 August rebalance. A few surprises, but given there is a nebulous qualitative overlay, that's expected.</li>
<li>39 were added. 34 deleted. We got 63 of 73 actual changes correct, achieving hit rates of 96%, 83%, and 44% for our High/Medium/Low Conviction <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/insights/quiddity-jpx-nikkei-400-rebal-2025-end-june-2025-ranks-final-expectations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leaderboard predictions</a>, respectively. </li>
<li>We see US$7.3bn of flows, two way. There should be another $3bn+ of flows on the 26th and 28th.</li>
