<li>Ping An Insurance and BYD had the biggest short covering, while China Merchants Bank saw the largest increase in shorts over the year.</li>

This still looks a pretty clean deal. I'd be paying up to and around $1.12/share which is ~3.6%/15% gross/annualised spread.
