<li>The <a href="https://www.afr.com/companies/financial-services/blackstone-in-talks-with-iress-for-buyout-at-more-than-1-9b-20250807-p5ml4a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AFR reports</a> that <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/blackstone-inc" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:27166:1" rel="noopener">Blackstone (BX US)</a> is considering a privatisation bid which could value <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/iress-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:15342:1" rel="noopener">Iress Ltd (IRE AU)</a> at about A$1.9 billion (more than A$10 per share).</li>
<li>Iress is no stranger to privatisation interest. In 2021, <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/eqt-ab" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:28922:1" rel="noopener">EQT (EQT SS)</a> bid against itself thrice to offer A$15.91, before failing to table a binding proposal.   </li>
<li>The shareholder structure facilitates an offer. The rumoured offer is a good starting point, but it is far from a knockout bid.</li>

The AFR reports that Blackstone (BX US) is considering a privatisation bid which could value Iress Ltd (IRE AU) at about A$1.9 billion (more than A$10 per share).
Iress is no stranger to privatisation interest. In 2021, EQT (EQT SS) bid against itself thrice to offer A$15.91, before failing to table a binding proposal.   
The shareholder structure facilitates an offer. The rumoured offer is a good starting point, but it is far from a knockout bid.

<li>S&amp;P DJI have proposed methodology changes to the S&amp;P/ASX family of indices to enhance representativeness and more quickly reflecting changing market conditions.</li>
<li>The main changes are lowering the minimum float threshold, shortening the market cap calculation period and the liquidity calculation period, and including buffers for additions and deletions.</li>
<li>We currently forecast 47 changes to the S&amp;P/ASX family of indices in September and the short market cap computation period could lead to more change over the next two months.</li>
</ul>

<li>Passive trackers will need to trade a lot of stock in the forecast changes, with the impact being especially large for the changes to the <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/s-p-asx-200" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:22901:1" rel="noopener">S&amp;P/ASX 200</a> and S&amp;P/ASX 300.</li>
<li>Except for the <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/s-p-asx-200" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:22901:1" rel="noopener">S&amp;P/ASX 200 (AS51 INDEX)</a> that is heavily tracked, the performance of the forecast changes to the other indices has been very stable with adds outperforming deletes bigly.</li>
