Asia HY Monthly - Chinese Property Update (2021) - Lucror Analytics

Chandra Asri Petrochemical's (CAP) Q4/20 results were surprisingly strong, with vast improvement from the first three quarters. Gross profit and EBITDA soared multiple times y-o-y, thanks to improved petrochemical spreads. The company reported higher ASP for its products, driven by a recovery in demand from China and Northeast Asia, while naphtha costs remained low. Cash flows improved significantly, which helped the company return to a net cash position. We believe capex will remain curtailed in FY 2021. Over the medium term, CAP’s credit profile will continue to hinge on its funding plans for the proposed USD 5 bn CAP2 project.
