<li>UK output growth slowed by more than expected in Q3 to 1.3%, despite faster growth in Sep-21. GDP looks likely to recover its Jan-20 level around year-end.</li>
<li>The UK recovery has an increasingly unhealthy reliance on temporary health spending, which drove 80% of growth in Sep-21. </li>
<li>Government output has provided almost half of all GDP growth so far during 2021. Support should fade after another rise in October.</li>

UK output growth slowed by more than expected in Q3 to 1.3%, despite faster growth in Sep-21. GDP looks likely to recover its Jan-20 level around year-end.
The UK recovery has an increasingly unhealthy reliance on temporary health spending, which drove 80% of growth in Sep-21. 
Government output has provided almost half of all GDP growth so far during 2021. Support should fade after another rise in October.

<li>The BoE confounded market expectations by announcing no policy changes, while only two dissented in favour of a hike. That was in line with our forecast, but the realisation that Bailey over-egged guidance has triggered a substantial swing in market pricing.</li>
<li>Reference to data in the “coming months” implies the first hike will occur in Feb-22. Resilient labour market data are motivating an earlier start than we previously thought, but the path remains highly likely to be much flatter than priced.</li>

<li>Calls for higher wages are reinforced by a 6.6% rise in the increasingly pervasive minimum. Without productivity gains, it is almost like the government wants the BoE to painfully stomp out excessive exuberance soon, although we still see that risk avoided.</li>
